Ladywell East is undertaking a project to monitor cardiovascular disease (CVD) as part of a Scottish Government objective. Many people do not know they are living with CVD risk factors and the project aims to optimise early intervention and care. We will start inviting eligible patients for a screening appointment from the start of July 2025. The project runs until end February 2026.
The screening appointment to determine your risk score includes tests/checks such as: BP, Type 2 diabetes risk score, BMI, smoking status, family history, blood test to check cholesterol level.
If you have a low/medium risk score, you will be advised to review the lifestyle advice below.
If you have a high/very high risk score, you will be invited to an appointment with the Pharmacist to discuss this and will be offered medication (statin) which aims to lower cholesterol levels in the blood. You will then have a blood test appointment after 3 months to review if this medication is effective and you are tolerating it. You will have another appointment at the 6 month point to have the screening tests done again to check if your risk score has improved.
