COMMUNITY TREATMENT AND CARE SERVICE (CTACS)

CTACS is a new way of receiving care- one which helps us to ensure patients are able to see the right person at the right place at the right time, and one which we are sure the community will come to value.

WHY IS THIS SERVICE CHANGING?

Changes to the arrangements between GP practices and the Scottish Government have meant that some services will no longer be provided directly by your GP practice. Instead, they will be delivered directly by Lothian Health and Social Care Partnerships and staff employed directly by the NHS.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR PATIENTS

Patients will still be able to access services provided by expertly trained nursing staff. Your GP practice will be kept up to date on your management and involved in your care, should it be necessary.

WHAT SERVICES DO CTACS OFFER?

CTACS staff are employed directly by HSCPs (Health and Social Care Partnerships) and will cover a range of non-GP services such as:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Chronic Disease Management (CDM) such as Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and related data collection
  • Management of minor injuries and dressings
  • Ear irrigation and ear checks (you can self-refer for this service by calling the team directly on 0131 537 7205- please leave all requested information on this answer phone)
  • Suture removal
